Founder. Responsible for all areas of business. Achieved rapid growth and profitability with a 29% average annual revenue growth over three years. Sold business in 2008 to The Riverside Company private equity firm. Responsible for daily management of finance, operations, fulfillment, HR, IT, curriculum design, product development, design and production.
2002 – 2003 President, Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island
Primary initiative – 80% increase in membership. Launched pioneering dual meeting structure in response to business community needs assessment. Numerous awards. Invited to serve as a trainer of incoming Presidents at multi-zone level, honor offered to fewer than 1% of all outgoing Presidents.
2001 – 2002 Marketing Manager, TimberGrass Bamboo Flooring/Teragren
Responsible for the promotion and marketing of architectural building materials. Spearheaded adoption of unique building material for luxury custom building. Achieved 500% increase in targeted designer and architect product exposures, resulting in 35% revenue growth.
1998 – 2001 Business Manager, Northland Cable Television
Complete responsibility for the successful operation of a small market cable company with $3.5 mil annual revenues. Grew business by 5-6% annually in a declining market sector. Advertising, operations and local news division. Managed beta launch of cable internet access service. Facilitated and managed the acquisition of a neighboring cable company.
1995 – 1998 Writer, Producer, Owner, Penumbra
Complete responsibility for the development of video and communication projects. Clients included Washington Mutual Bank, Turner Construction, Compaq, , PhysioControl. Pro bono projects included fundraising for Habitat for Humanity and toddler language development.
1987 – 1995 Executive Producer, Operations Manager, Lockert-Jackson and Associates, Inc.
Created operations systems for a subscription workplace training provider. Responsible for the design and creation of Emergency Medical Update, monthly video based training series for emergency medical services. Responsible for the development and launch of Safety Watch, award winning workplace safety distance learning.
1982 – 1988 Research Manager, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center
Implemented data collection and analysis systems for epidemiological research. Technical writer. Responsible for the deployment, and accompanying training, of data collection systems. Trained diverse groups of mid-career workers in their first exposure to personal computers.
